Story

My

I always wanted to be an artist and I am so grateful to be living my dream.

Ever since I can remember, I've had a deep-seated passion for art. Growing up in India, my childhood was a whirlwind of change and adventure, courtesy of my father's military career. Boarding school life in the lush Nilgiri Hills introduced me to dreamy landscapes, verdant foliage, and the unhurried pace of village life at The Lawrence School, Lovedale.

Eventually, my family settled in the vibrant city of New Delhi, where I completed my schooling at the Air Force Bal Bharti School. In 1996, I graduated with a BFA from the esteemed Delhi College of Art, nurturing my love for creativity and expression.

Then, it was time to explore my left brain...

As life often unfolds, my path took an unexpected turn, leading me into the realm of technology and design. I delved into the booming IT industry, honing my skills as a Graphic Designer and UI/UX expert. Little did I know, this detour would equip me with invaluable knowledge, especially in the realm of digital artwork and social media content creation.

Some might think I am a late bloomer because I became a full-time artist well into my 40's. I think of it as coming full circle.

Seeing the world and experiencing the food, culture, and people helped me to elevate my understanding of the world. When my daughter was 4 we moved to Munich and it recharged my vision of being an artist. I dug deep and found the courage to finally show my work on a public platform in collaboration with other artists in 2018. I have since gone on to show my work in Venice, New York, Sweden, and Singapore.

Teaching art did not happen as a natural step. I conducted lessons in 2020 and haven't looked back since. I love learning new things, mentoring kids and adults. I would call myself an Enabler. I help people achieve their potential.

The pandemic didn't stop me from continuing to create art and exhibit too. I thought of it as an opportunity to gather one's thoughts and go forward.

I have always traveled with a sketchbook or at least some art material as far back as I can remember. It's like a personal diary, journal, and picture book all rolled into one.

What else?

There's always music in my studio. Sometimes I even listen to a podcast with my AirPods on while the music is playing. I am partial to 80's and 90's rock and some of my favorite podcasts are - Conan O'Brian needs a friend, Remarkable People by Guy Kawasaki, The Whittering Whitehalls, Dateline NBC, and a few ghost hunter, and some urban legend ones. Multi-tasking is my way out of boredom. I cannot watch paint dry. I love my dog (Harley). I've had a parrot, dogs, fish, and turtles as pets growing up and though I love animals I have an absolute disdain for lizards! I am afraid of being a bitter, bored empty nester so I work double hard to create art for my sanity.
